Membership Information

Who can join? Our programs involve skaters ranging from approximately 5 years of age to masters skaters - every age and ability!

Fees are based on the group the skater is placed in. Along with this comes a Fund Raising and Volunteering obligation. Again, this is based on the group the skater is placed in with the second and subsequent skaters from each family paying only half.

Fund raising with the SLSSC is accomplished by a variety of projects, ranging from bottle drives, food sales, gift sales, bingos, chocolate almonds, etc. Each family may choose to participate in these activities to raise all, a portion of, or none of their requirement. Post-dated cheques for the fund raising requirement are submitted at registration.

Once a family has met their fund raising requirement, they may continue to participate in projects to raise funds that will be credited to their skater account. 75% off the net amount earned by the family (after project expenses) for a given project will be credited to their skater account and %25 will go to the SLSSC.

Volunteering is a rewarding Club requirement. Enthusiastic volunteers ensure the growth and success of our Club. Successful clubs are family oriented. Families earn vounteer credits by helping at the organizational level, on-ice, and by officiating at meets that we host. Volunteer units are assigned based on the group the skater is in.

Welcome New Members!

On registration night, if you need more forms than are provided, please obtain one from the appropriate table. Don’t forget to stop by each table to:

• Complete Registration Form(s)
• Sign up for fundraising
• Sign up for your volunteer units
• Sign up as an official for competitions
• Pick up your skates (if renting)
• Obtain skating numbers and skinsuits
• Hand in cheques to the cashier (including post-dated fundraising and volunteer cheques)

You should be aware of the following SLSSC policies:

• Registration fees may be paid in full OR ½ as of date of registration and ½ post dated to November 15,
• Fundraising and Volunteer unit cheques should be post dated to March 31
• Cheques, (either current or post dated) for all fees, fundraising and volunteer units must be received by the Club prior to the child going on the ice to skate
• An additional levy of $15 will be charged for NSF cheques
• No refunds will be given after the first four (4) weeks of the skating program. An administration fee will be charged on any refunds.
